MediaTek is Qualcomm’s eternal rival, the latter is the world’s largest provider of phone processors and reigns supreme over the high-end. However, Samsung has shaken the American glove with its Exynos 7420 which has been able to beat the Snapdragon 810. MediaTek also wants to get back in the game to win its share of the high-end cake, it intends to succeed thanks to its Helio processors.
MediaTek is a Taiwanese company that keeps wanting to shorten the distance with Qualcomm and it’s been working pretty well so far. Indeed, the founder has now taken the lead over the American with regard to the entry-level and also the mid-range recently. Starting at the bottom of the scale, MediaTek gradually goes up the ranges.
It seems that this is the last step in MediaTek’s diabolical plan to get the upper hand on Qualcomm, the high end is the next target. The problem is that this firm suffers from a “low-end” image because its components are mostly in this range and also because optimization is its strong, but this is not always the case.
The two SoCs presented by the firm are the Helio P and Helio X, but we have no information about the Helio P. Let’s go into detail, the Helio X10 presented here is in 64 bits and features 8 Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 2.2 GHz. It also comes with a refresh rate of 120Hz and will allow slow-motion video recording in 480 ips, the maximum to date being 240 for iPhone 6.

Only clue for the Helio P, “premium performance chips”, maybe it will be a better version even better than the X10. In any case MediaTek promises to be heavy with its new products, just as the Snapdragon 815 is coming to light, and could well pass the high-end milestone once and for all. The first smartphone with Helio processor could arrive in the second quarter of 2015.
