The Apple A9 explodes the Snapdragon 820 and the Exynos 8 Octa on some tests

Announced on a one-on-one note, the Snapdragon 820 and Exynos 8 Octa processors expected in the various variants of the Samsung Galaxy S7, are now competing head with their biggest rival, the Apple A9, and the results are far from famous on single core test.

The Apple A9 processor of iPhone 6S and S6 Plus.

While the two new Soc from Qualcomm and Samsung have just burst in, a new Benchmark GeekBench 3 has just surfaced on Weibo. Its purpose, compare the single core performance of Snapdragon 820, Samsung Exynos 8 Octa (8890), HiSilicon Kirin 950 and MediaTek Helio x20 against the Apple A9 of the iPhone 6S. Four monsters for future flagships under Google’s OS against the iPhone 6S processor.

As you can imagine, the latter exceeds all of them. And more generally, we find that Apple processors systematically beat the Soc of the high-end Android on single core tests, apart from the Apple A6, beaten by the Exynos 5410 of the Galaxy S4. Of course, the trend would probably be reversed in multi core but it still shows a certain weakness in single core.

Note that each graph represents a synthetic result obtained from thousands of tests and whatever happens, Apple processors come out first, with the exception of the A6

The other interesting phenomenon that can be observed is that the Exynos 8 Octa and the Snapdragon 820 are almost tied. Knowing that Samsung intends to use both in the different variants of its Galaxy S7, depending on the market, this is rather good news. Especially since the latter two do better in single core than the Kirin 950, the last monster of power for Huawei smartphones or even the MediaTek Helio X20 and its ten hearts.
