Echo and Echo Dot (4th generation): Amazon unveils all-round connected speakers…

Amazon has just unveiled its brand new Echo and Echo Dot speakers. And they are getting a makeover, they are already in the 4th generation. New design, improved sound… Here comes the Echo and Echo Dot “spherical”.

While Amazon has just announced its entry into the world of Cloud Gaming with Luna, the e-commerce giant is also taking the opportunity to unveil the arrival of its Fire TV Cube in France, as well as a new range of Echo speakers. Like their predecessor, smaller devices come in two versions: Echo on the one hand, and Echo Dot on the other.

Echo speaker changes look

First novelty: if the previous generation of Echo speaker adopted the shape of a small cylinder, Amazon this time relied on a spherical model. And given the first visuals released by Amazon, this change is most successful. The Echo speaker also benefits from a small ring of light located on its base. Amazon has also reworked the sound of its speakers by incorporating a woofer 3″, two tweeters in front and offering a Stereo Dolby sound.

The e-commerce giant promises a “stereo sound with clear highs, dynamic midrange and deep bass”. The connected speaker detects the acoustics of the room in which it is located and adjusts the audio return accordingly. Above the device, there is a small touch area that allows you to postpone the alarm, without having to throw the Echo out the window in the morning when you want to gain another 5 minutes of sleep.

Echo Dot and Echo Dot with clock also adopt a spherical shape

The small Echo Dot connected speaker also benefits from this full makeover. It also comes in the form of a sphere and enjoys the same fabric finishes as the Echo. There is a small 1.6-inch speaker that “produces crisp and balanced bass” (says Amazon). Two versions are also on the market: one rather classic, and the other with an LED display.

TheEcho Dot with clock (that’s its name) allows not only to see the time, but also the temperature or to launch a timer. It has the same alarm-carrying feature, which can be activated with a simple touch on the device’s head. The whole thing of course pulsates with the help of Amazon’s voice assistant that is no longer presented, Alexa.

Available in 3 colours (anthracite, white and grey blue), the Echo and Echo Dot speakers are priced at €99.99 and €59.99,respectively. The version of Echo Dot with clock is marketed at a price of 69.99 euros,in white or grey blue. While all 3 devices can be pre-ordered now, Amazon has not yet announced an availability date.
