The Mercedes GLC (the new German crossover with steering rear wheels) is preparing two years after its debut to introduce us to its new generation. Its debut is set for the last months of 2022 but, in the meantime, the Automotive paparazzi have immortalized the AMG 63 variant.
The sports SUV differs from the new standard GLC by the presence of a wider Pan-American grille, more generous rims and tires, a high-performance braking system and some sportier aesthetic frills above the car body. The side that attracts the most attention is the b-side with the quadruple exhaust terminal and the hint of diffuser. The side shows pronounced miniskirts.
The cockpit will be more spacious, with an interior that is inspired by the flagship Mercedes S-Class, then with the cantilevered panel for the touch screen and the very large vertical display that serves as an infotainment system.
The new GLC will get a 2.0-liter plug-in hybrid powertrain with the AMG version that could have up to 634 horsepower (480 kilowatts) under the hood. A considerable increase over today’s GLC which develops up to 469 hp (349 kW) with the V8 biturbo.
The next generation of Mercedes GLC will debut this year and will likely go on sale in some markets before the start of 2023. The AMG variants will follow towards the summer months of 2023.
