JVC Launches VAO9200 OLED TVs with Dolby Vision and Android TV

JVC has announced the VAO9200 TVs, its second generation of OLEDs. The successors of the previous VO9100 are always proposed in the 55″ (LT-55VAO9200) and 65″ (LT-65VAO9200) sizes. The panels are OLED WRGB at Ultra HD resolution with a refresh rate of 100 / 120 Hz. The video processing, entrusted to an unspecified quad-core processor, intervenes on various aspects such as upscaling and increasing the level of detail thanks to Super Resolution.

You can also act on moving images through Motion Estimation Motion Compensation (MEMC) technology, which uses frame interpolation to increase fluidity. As on the JVC 2021 OLEDs, there is also a function to optimize the contrast ratio, namely micro dimming, a software that analyzes images and modifies the gamma curve by emphasizing light or dark.

There is compatibility with HDR with the same formats as previous OLEDs: HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision. For audio we have Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, DTS Virtual:X virtual processing and a 5-band equalizer. The sound is played through a 2.1-channel system with a power of 12 W RMS x 2.

The main novelty brought on the VAO9200 series concerns the Smart TV: instead of the platform developed on a Linux basis we find Android TV, obviously complete with all the applications on televisions with the operating system developed by Google. Among the available apps we find YouTube, Prime Video, Netflix, the Play Store etc. You can interact with TVs via Google Assistant, use all chromecast features, and mirror mobile devices via Miracast.

Then there is the classic media-player compatible with files in mpg, mpeg, dat, vob, mkv, mp4, m4a, mov, 3gp, avi, ts, mp3, wma, wav, jpg, jpeg, bmp and png. The reception of television programs is entrusted to the DVB-T2 and DVB-S2 tuners. There are three HDMI inputs and they support two hdmi 2.1 functions: eARC and Auto Low Latency Mode. Availability in Europe and Italy is expected to start this month. At the moment the list prices have not been communicated. Recall that JVC brand TVs are made by the Turkish Vestel.
