Google has rolled out an update for Bard, its virtual assistant, within the experimental extensions. We are talking specifically about that YouTube, and as per the official announcement it is now able to understand what happens in a specific video.
Earlier this year, Bard introduced its “Extensions” in some markets as a way to broaden its knowledge base to include information from other Google apps such as Gmail, Drive, Docs, Maps, Hotels, Flights, and YouTube. This is effectively an update to the latter, which previously functioned simply as a conversational video search, with the ability to summarize content
Apparently, it will be possible to go into much detail compared to before. In the announcement, Google used the following example to explain the new feature: “If you’re watching a video on how to make an olive oil cake, you can now ask Bard how many eggs the recipe calls for.”
This new feature is part of Google’s efforts to make its chatbot more useful for day-to-day tasks by amplifying its ability to answer questions on a variety of topics, as as it stands and like any AI-powered chatbot, it’s not perfect.
Bard is already one of the most advanced AI-powered chatbots available at the moment, and as its capabilities progress, it will become even more useful. A big step forward should be made with its integration into Assistant, and just at the beginning of October the first signs were identified in the code of the Google app. In the meantime, competitors are wasting no time, and just in the past few hours ChatGPT Voice has made its debut. OpenAI’s counterpart immediately proved to work well, and above all it is already available in Italian.
