Samsung announces the arrival of its rival to the Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest 3 for 2025

An Apple Vision Pro that, according to the plan unveiled for 2025, will have a competitor in the market.
A South Korean tech giant, Samsung, has recently reconfirmed its intention to release its rival to the Apple Vision Pro sometime in the next year. In the recent earning call announcement, they stated its intent for 2025 as follows, “better product integration, specifically future XR devices.”

Partnerships and speculation
Because Samsung relied on Qualcomm to manufacture its best phones, the chip maker could supply the headset with the horsepower it required. Further, the operating platform in which it will be based is most probably offered by Google itself. However, as recently as last July, at the conclusion of Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked Summer 2024 event, Google’s Rick Osterloh gave a nod to the alliance with the declaration that ‘a new XR platform is expected to be unveiled by the end of the year’.

A challenge worthy of Samsung
Still, it is unclear what Samsung’s device can be or how it can compete with the Apple Vision Pro or the Meta Quest 3. Another rumor was made in June 2023 stating that Samsung is planning on making a headset that will cost between $1000 and $1500 and will in fact have better performance than apple’s device. A task that is far from easy.

Innovative technology
A preliminary report on the December 2023 Samsung ISOCELL Version 931 image sensor may be the foundation of the headset. What’s new about this sensor is that it works like the human eye, with a scanning shutter that exposes all the pixels at once.

When it does get here, people will expect a lot from Samsung in what they are going to churn out. Meta and Apple are uniquely positioned in terms of growth in hardware with inherently always evolving software platforms behind them. However, there are three ways that Samsung’s mixed reality headset can beat Apple Vision Pro.
