Amazon is in the process of deploying the “Hunches” or “Intuitions” feature in French. Thanks to the latter, Alexa observes your habits and can perform actions in an automated way such as turning off the light if you sleep or vacuuming if you leave your home. For now, hutches are only available when the app is in English.

Your Amazon Echo speaker with Alexa are gaining automation! We were talking about it in November, Assistant Alexa can now predict what you’re going to ask her. But this now goes further, since Amazon is pushing an update that allows speakers toact without intervention on your part, simply following its “hunches” in other words its “intuitions” in the language of Molière.
The concept is the same as when your smartphone offers you apps or actions that you use frequently at certain times: Alexa observes what you ask her as you use it and in what context you ask for this or that action. Then sets a rule. For example, it understands that you go to bed at a certain time, and can thus turn off the light when you are in the arms of Morpheus, without any other action on your part.
Until then, Amazon had already experimented with these intuitions, but until now it was mainly a question of offering you actions. With these new “Hunches” it’s really about letting the assistant control your home. Currently, Hunches only works with certain devices, including connected locks, lights, sockets and thermostats. We find no trace of these Huntches or Intuitions in the Amazon Alexa app in French.

The feature is nevertheless already available in limited way if you set up your speaker on English / USA. To test the Hunches, you then have to go to the More tab at the bottom right, then touch Settings. The Hunches will then appear further down the list. Tap Hunches to access a list of automated actions based on your habits.
