We told you several previews about Google’s Pixel 6a just yesterday but we must already return to the subject because several new rumors have emerged – basically the general technical sheet complete with what will be the next midrange of Mountain View, and the first with proprietary SoC Tensor, the same that was seen in the flagships announced last fall. The new information comes from the insider known on Twitter as Shadow_Leak, perhaps not as famous and prolific as the various Ice_Universe or Evleaks but with some reliability, especially regarding the Microsoft world. We list the details below:
6.2″ OLED display (The source had indicated a refresh of 120 Hz, but said he was wrong), flat edges
Google Tensor GS101 SoC, exactly the same as the other two Pixel 6 and 6 Pro
8 or 6 GB RAM
128 GB internal storage
Cameras:
12.2 MP main rear (Sony IMX363 sensor)
12MP ultra-wide angle secondary rear (Sony IMX386 sensor)
front 8 MP (Sony IMX355 sensor)
4,800mAh battery, support 30W fast charging
Thickness 8.7 mm
Android 12 operating system
The last point of the list may seem a superfluous clarification, but it is right to contextualize it in an Android 12L perspective: which yes, will be aimed mainly at tablets and folding smartphones, but will also arrive on traditional smartphones. Android 12L should be released in late March / early April, while just yesterday we reported that probably the Pixel 6a event will be in late May. It is strange to think that a Google smartphone is presented without the latest version of the system that has been on the market for 2 months already. Of course nothing is certain: maybe the source was simply wrong, or it was simply a little more generic (technically Android 12L is always Android 12).
