Motorola, big comeback in 2024: more smartphones, more choice, more AI

Motorola aims to change gears in 2024: 2023 has been quite transitional, with a decidedly reduced range of smartphones compared to the past, but in the past few hours the head of the company’s Chinese division Chen Jin said on Weibo that next year we can expect many more products.

Chen Jin points out that his latest-generation clamshell foldable, the RAZR 40, has been quite successful in China and the rest of the world, but that there is a need to attack other segments of the market as well. The company has been watching the artificial intelligence trend very carefully, which is exploding right now, and plans to show its interpretation with the next-generation RAZRs and X-series flagships.

Improvements and enhancements are also planned for the two cheapest families, the S and the legendary G. Clarification: in the global market the X series and the S series are part of the same Edge range. It should be noted that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which will be a bit of the reference “AI chip” for the Android world, has already been presented for a few weeks and so far Motorola has not pre-announced any smartphone based on it, unlike some of its direct competitors, especially compatriots.

As a small accompanying comment, we can only emphasize the hope that Motorola will also improve from a software support point of view, since it is among the slowest in releasing new versions of Android for its devices and that its update policies are not particularly long-lived or generous.
