Apple takes it on the world of augmented reality
Apple, the tech giant known for its innovative products, is working on an ambitious new project: smart glasses. An object that might provide perception of a different reality, can greatly change the way we live our lives. However, the wait could be long , because Apple does not plan to launch its product in the market until it is ready.
A complex design
According to Mark Gurman, a Bloomberg journalist who is usually on the know of Apple’s plans, the smart glasses that Apple is working on to be in the market in the next 3 to 5 years. Why such a delay? The main reason is technical. This type of product, however, involves many problems and the design of such a system relies on the solution to a given number of problems.
The challenges to be faced
As is extremely evident, the decision making process is affected by one of Apple’s biggest concerns which is the size of the frame. It is even more strategic for these to look natural especially in order to meet the acceptance of the common public. One which is too big would make the person wearing it appear more like some sort of extraterrestrial cyborg rather than someone who is wearing a perfectly normal pair of eyeglasses.
Battery Duration
Additionally, the problem of battery duration needs to be discussed. This is due to the fact that, the smaller the size, the smaller the holder for the battery and hence the capacity. However, driving current through two small screens poses a challenge in terms of power requirement, is a real issue to Apple.
A bet on the future
Last but not least, Apple aims at providing a good interface through its Apple Glasses . In this case, screens must be efficient in that they must offer a clear and high resolution image of the contents being displayed. However, it appears that Apple is willing and capable of succeeding within the sphere of smart glasses, just like it has done with AI technology. Apple should never rush into market and offer low quality products while there are other companies that appear to be more technological advanced.
