Performance comparison: Intel Lunar Lake vs. Snapdragon X and Apple M3

Intel Lunar Lake: a major improvement yet not a radical one
The first laptops with Intel’s new Lunar Lake chips have come in. Our assessments indicated that even though performance improved greatly, they still do not match the best chips produced by Apple and Qualcomm.

Bettered performance?
From the analysis, we find that although the Intel Lunar Lake chips show enhanced performance compared to their predecessors, the Meteor Lake, they nevertheless trail the best laptop chips offered by Apple and Qualcomm. Intel should be particularly worried about this, as its laptop chips are starting to fall behind in comparison to the rising competitors AMD, Apple, and Qualcomm.

Advance in AI
New Lunar Lake chips are remarkable in the field of AI. Many research has indicated that laptops featuring these chips present improved performance over the Snapdragon X or Apple M3 devices we have tested. This may point to the idea that prioritizing quick responses when you are using apps and features that feature AI components means Intel’s newest processors should be up to the task.

Battery life: a strong point of Lunar Lake
The Lunar Lake chips possess another important advantage: their battery performance. Our tests indicate that laptops powered by Lunar Lake processors will likely show a major improvement in battery life over those with previous Meteor Lake processors. Even so, the Lunar Lake chips we tested do not measure up to the leading chips from Apple and Qualcomm currently available in the market.
