PS5 gets a major UI update – See what’s new

Quite possibly the most important feature for a next-gen console: A significant update for the PS5.
Sony has officially revealed the specifics of the latest update for PS5 that has turned out to be one of the most substantive updates since the console was first released slightly over three years ago. This update is bringing a critical enhancement of the UI, and new features and enhancements on the user side.

The “Welcome hub”, a major novelty
According to the official published on the play station blog, the latest update contains the “Welcome hub”. This is how Sony describes it: “A new customisation feature with widgets and home screen wallpaper on PS5.” Formerly known as the “Explore” button, it is supposed to be the first thing you open each time you start the PS5 console. It provides a range of widgets to make you able to browse the storage space of your console, the battery status of the controllers and peripherals, see which of your friends are online or to showcase your trophys.

Another approach that was taken in the design of the “Welcome hub” was customization.
These widgets can be then dragged to your preference, and as for the “Welcome hub,” there are more live wallpapers it can support. You can also use a screenshot for which you have played on PS5 game to make it more personal. It may very well be the amount of customization that users will be able to apply to the PS5 theme so make sure to use it.

Other new features of the update have not yet been described.
In addition to the “Welcome hub”, the update has the following other interesting features: Among them I recall the “Party Share” that enables you to create a QR code which can be shared using any messaging or social media platform to invite the recipient to the voice chat on PS5. Besides, as the beta version of the feature has been released, people will be able to create personalized 3D audio modes on the PS5. The update also allows to play back for certain users from a remote location and has an adaptive charging mode.
