There are a lot of possible new AI options that Apple could introduce in the next versions of its OS, and two of them are related to Safari browser.
It is still uncertain till which year but many predict that by 2024 Apple would be out with artificial intelligence products. It remains to be seen whether generative AI will become available in upcoming releases such as iOS 18 and macOS 15, as Apple has not released more comprehensive features yet.
While we’ve already heard about some of the AI features Apple is working on for this year, the latest rumors are about Safari: From sources and rumours, there are likely to be at least one new AI feature which Safari 18 will offer that puts the Gemini into contention with Chrome, Copilot in Edge or Aria in Opera. Moreover, it has other changes that may take place for it to achieve its full potential It has other changes that may happen so that it can be able to achieve its maximum potential.
Smart Search
Another attribute that engineers have come up with as they strive to develop WBM is what they call ‘Smart Search. ’This improves the rating of the web page by some keyword and phrases and provides a digest of the highlighted information at hand. From the same engineers, it is known that the feature employs Apple’s artificial intelligence model to look for specific phrases, which offer description or explanation, and consecutive words, making the summary.
Still, Smart Search is not active and not turned on, and it is still a mystery what function this will have. Still, it naturally would make sense for Apple to include an AI assistant in Safari – as it is observed most other browsers include such an AI. At least once, it wouldn’t be astonishing for Safari 18 to lack page summary tools all together.
Spider web eraser
The name is obvious: what appears with Web Eraser is that parts of the web page without which you do not want to see can be erased completely; posts, images, text snippets, and so on, while Safari remembers the settings. So, if you are going back to the same web page, those particular portions should be concealed.
This kind of a tool has for instance been used in other services like the ad blockers but this is a first time Apple was involved. Safari has several privacy settings and the company should guarantee that Web Eraser connects with other features such as iCloud Private Relay.
Quick Settings
Smart Search is in concert with Web Eraser, and other features and options in Safari (including the Aa menu in iOS and iPadOS devices) is easily to put in the Quick Menu of Safari. Currently, there are some options that are available through the quick menu in Safari for macOS, some of which include: Privacy features The share menu The bookmark option It would have been very helpful to see all of the great features that I was looking at in one context.
Will Safari 18 remain a buried treasure in the browser market?
This might not be the most preferred choice among all users, but there is no doubt that in the eyes of certain people, Safari currently remains the best web browser. It leaves Apple with the chance, Safari 18 on iOS 18 and macOS 15, to deliver something superior. It must be noted here that, if Apple successfully manages to integrate some of the AI tools in Safari that are actually helpful, and you can turn them off, or in some cases, you may not even see them at all, that many of the users will not hesitate to fall in line.
To only mention three changes that AppleInsider says is now included in Safari 18 is to really open up for lots more things that is in the works. This is so it can introduce in 2025 a new highly enhanced Visual Lookup feature for Safari which in essence searches through the interent for pictures that one may come across and wishes to obtain more information about. Hence, this feature is not going to be rolled out this year; however, many others, big and small, are headed to Safari with iOS 18 and macOS 15. Do not lose hope for WWDC 2024; it is not very far in the future; just a little while longer!
