Western Digital has revamped its SanDisk-branded offering with a large number of storage devices that include a 1.5TB UHS-I microSD card, a CFexpress Type B from the Pro-Cinema series designed to capture cinema-quality video, a new series of SD and microSD for outdoor cameras, and new USB storage with dual USB-C and USB-A connectivity from the Dual Drive Luxe and Dual Drive Go series.
It starts with the 1.5 TB micro UHS-I card which, in combination with a SanDisk MobileMate USB 3.0 microSD reader, can reach 150 MB/s transfer speeds (the previous model goes up to 100 MB/s). According to the company, this is the fastest speed achieved by a card of this type and with this capacity. All for an MSRP of $229.99 with a 10-year limited warranty.
The other high-end novelty is the Pro-Cinema CFexpress Type B series of cards which, according to Western Digital, thanks to a sustained speed of 1400 MB/s, is capable of recording video in 8K resolution without loss of frames and meets Hollywood cinematic standards. And it’s designed to withstand drops of just under a meter, as well as boasting a lifetime warranty. But it’s certainly not cheap with a price tag of $399.99 for the 320GB drive and $699.99 for the 640GB drive.
Let’s move on to cheaper units with the new series of SD and microSD cards designed for outdoor video capture devices and differentiated according to resolution. There are variants for 1280×720 camcorders, 1920×1080 camcorders and 4K camcorders. But they all feature the orange tint and all come with a lifetime warranty. Not bad considering the 64GB microSD model for 4K costs $16.99. On the other hand, it takes 78.99 for the more capacious 512GB model.
The last act belongs to the new USB sticks with USB-C to USB-A convertible connectivity of the Dual Drive Luxe series, available in silver only for the basic variants and in silver or gold for those from 128 GB to 1 TB, and Dual Drive Go USB Type-C, available in black color in the 32 GB variants, 512GB and 1TB and in black, green, purple, and blue colors in 32GB to 256GB variants. The limited warranty is 5 years while the starting prices are $10.70 for the 32 GB drive of the Dial Drive Luxe series and $9.19 for the 32 GB drive of the Dual Drive Go series.
