On This Thursday, February 11, the famous processor manufacturer Qualcomm announces the launch of 3 new chipsets, intended to support the performance of cameras, video and gaming on our smartphones. The American firm also announced the release of a Snapdragon Wear 2100, which would replace the S400 in our smartwatches.

Qualcomm announced three new processors, including the Snapdragon 625, 435 and 425. The aim is to support new network standards such as 802.11ac Wi-Fi and the latest photo sensors on our smartphones. The company also offers tools to connect sensors, such as its famous Quick Charge technology.
According to the firm, the 625 is the most powerful of the three and supports the latest 4G standards as well as high-resolution cameras, up to 23 MPx for the rear lens and 13 MPx for the front. It is engraved with FinFET technology in 14 nm. It will have an Adreno 506 GPU. It is able to read and record 4K. It has an X9 modem.
The 435 is an octo-core processor that manages full HD in 60 fps. It is equipped with an Adreno 505 GPU and still manages the 4G. For his brother the 425, we are talking about a quad-core capable of handling HD screens (1280×720).
The Snapdragon 425 had already been introduced last year and has its features revised downwards: we go from the X8 modem to the X6, so we now have a quad-core revised to the bass from 1.7 to 1.4 Ghz and the Adreno 405 is replaced by the Adreno 308. The memory was also reviewed on the bass. You should know that both processors are engraved in 28 nm LP.
Let’s move on to the Snapdragon Wear platform and its processor, which are made mainly to support the latest Android Wear watches and get the best out of it.
This platform includes the Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor, software, support to target data that comes from connected wristbands for example and thus transmit them more easily to mobile.
You should know that the Wear 2100 is 30% more compact than the Snapdragon 400, used until now in objects of this type, it uses 25% less energy and seems to activate more sensors, which will allow the watches to benefit from more autonomy.
It will integrate Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a very low-power 4G modem to enable connectivity with its devices all day long. There are two versions: one with modem and one without, which are identical in design, to allow manufacturers to make their choice in peace.
However, more should be known at the MWC. Snapdragon will inevitably be present as the S820 is likely to be the center of attention, especially that of fans of Samsung or LG. Its GPU, the Adreno 530 seems to crush the competition, we will wait to be able to test it in real conditions.
