Originally known as Snapdragon 618, it is now called Snapdragon 650 and now shows us what it has in its belly through a benchmark. A Soc originally intended for the mid-range but which literally laminates the Snapdragon 808 and the Helio X10 of MediaTek.
- Don’t miss: Xiaomi introduces its Redmi Note 3 Pro with Snapdragon 650 processor
Present aboard the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro, the Snapdragon 650 processor shows us today the extent of its power. It is measured by the Snapdragon 808, which can be found on board the Nexus 5X and the LG G4, and the MediaTek Helio X10, a processor that can be found aboard the classic version of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.
As we’ve seen before, the Snapdragon 650 is a hexa core processor consisting of two A72 cores and four A53 cores plus an Adreno 510 GPU. That’s a pretty muscular setup for a mid-range processor. A superiority that is felt very quickly during benchmarks since the chip outperforms its two competitors by getting 78,679 points on AnTuTu against 70,087 for the Snapdragon 808 and 48,354 for the MediaTek Helio X10.
The second graph isolates the performance of the GPU and the CPU. Once again, Qualcomm’s last Soc led the way with 19,464 points thanks to his Adreno 510 GPU. For its part, the Snapdragon 808 (Adreno 418) gets 17,496 points and the Helio X10 which equips itself with a GPU Power VR G6200 gets 11,890 points.
MediaTek’s Soc is definitely well below its two rivals. This is all the more interesting when you consider that the price difference between the Pro version and the classic version of the Redmi Note 3 is minimal and it’s rather gratifying for future mid-range 2016s that will be equipped with Qualcomm’s Soc and will, therefore, be perhaps more powerful than some top-of-the-range 2015.
