Snapdragon 810: first tests, no overheating noticed

Expected at the heart of many flagships, this year, the Snapdragon 810 processor is currently in the spotlight and has just passed its first tests. While earlier we could discover a series of comparative benchmarks of Qualcomm’s latest Soc against Samsung’s Exynos 7420, Here Slashgear is now offering us a test of a completely different nature.

The Snapdragon 810 passes its first tests.

After testing the Snapdragon 810 in its two MDP (Platform Developer Mobile) reference devices, which are a 4K tablet and a smartphone with Quad HD display, the SlashGear team has lifted the lid on an issue that interests us all: does the Soc suffer from an overheating problem or not? And the answer is no.

While the first benchmarks revealed a score of 61,692 points for the phone and 52,102 points for the tablet, which is excellent, the Soc does not show the slightest overheating and its temperature is between 30 and 35 degrees, during the normal use phases. During the games, it reaches 35 to 45 degrees. Temperatures even lower than those of the Snapdragon 800.

Temperatures that remain within the norm.

The thermal limit is set at 45 degrees. So as soon as the processor reaches this threshold, a strange system starts up and reduces the frequency of the clock in order toavoid overheating.

It should be noted that these first tests were carried out from the reference terminals with software that will not be the same as that of commercially sold devices. Scores on the various benchmark tools may therefore be lower on an LG G Flex 2, a Xiaomi Mi Note Pro or any other new terminal expected with this Soc.
