Snapdragon 820: a new benchmark puts it ahead of the Exynos 7420 and Apple A9

Currently being tested in the Samsung Galaxy S7 and expected at the heart of the Xiaomi Mi5, the Snapdragon 820 processor has just been tested again on the Geekbench benchmark tool where it breaks all records. Version 3 of Qualcomm’s next Soc gets a score of 5910 points on the multi core test and 2032 points on the single core test. A very good performance superior to that of the Exynos 7420 on both tests and the Apple A9 of the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus on the multi core test.

Qualcomm Snapdragon.

Scores also higher than those of version 2 which had scored 1800 points on the single core test and 4900 points on the multi core test. This revamped version is supposed to bring 5 to 10% more power than the previous one; The Snapdragon 820 is already shaping up to be a monster and should easily make the Snapdragon 810 and its overheating problems forget.

Despite its excellent score, the high-end processor of 2016 still fails to surpass Huawei’s Kirin 950 processor (6096 points in multi core) but it is already positioning itself as one of the best. In addition, as Qualcomm’s latest press release in mid-September revealed, the Snapdragon 820 will not only offer power, as great efforts have also been made on the user experience side, particularly in terms of autonomy and energy consumption.

It should also be noted that the Snapdragon 820 does better than the Exynos 8890 tested on board one of the two versions of the Galaxy S7 (Samsung is currently testing both Soc). Also, knowing that it’s only September, Qualcomm still has plenty of time to optimize its Soc by December, when the Xiaomi Mi5 is supposed to arrive.
