Tesla unveils Optimus Gen 2, the next generation of its humanoid robot

Tesla has taken a major new step forward in the development of its humanoid robot Tesla Optimus, also known as the Tesla Bot. In fact, Elon Musk’s company has unveiled “Optimus Gen 2”, the new generation of its humanoid robot, in a short film.

When Tesla first talked about this project, it wasn’t taken very seriously. In fact, many thought it was more of a rough idea than a real project. Instead, the company means business. The goal is to create a humanoid robot that can be mass-produced and used to perform multiple tasks. During AI Day 2022, Tesla had unveiled the first prototype of this humanoid robot and has since provided some updates on the project that showed the progress made.

Now, Tesla has unveiled the next generation of its humanoid robot.

The new robot appears to be much more refined than previous prototypes. The company claims that the robot is able to walk 30% faster than before. In addition, the robot has been lightened by 10 kg. The company has also worked on the balance of the robot to improve its movements (in the video the robot can perform push-ups on the legs without problems). The robot also has actuators and sensors developed directly by Tesla.

Hands are certainly among the most difficult parts to make in a robot if you want it to perform certain tasks. From what can be observed, it seems that Tesla has made major strides. In the video we can see how the robot moves eggs without breaking them.

Thanks to the robot’s work on artificial intelligence, the American company seems to have managed to make important strides in the development of its movements.

Tesla’s work on the Optimus is progressing, with the company still counting on being able to mass-produce it in the not-too-distant future. There is still a lot of work to be done, but Elon Musk’s company continues to make important progress. All that remains is to wait for a new update of this program to find out the progress of the development of the humanoid robot.
