This year, Samsung changed its habits by equipping the Galaxy S6 and its variants as well as the Galaxy Note 5 with a home-made processor, the Exynos 7420 engraved in 14 nanometers. A solution so convincing that the Korean should finally take over the engraving of the Snapdragon 820, Qualcomm thus extending the list of its customers in which we also find Apple.
But that’s not all. According to a recent Digitimes report, Samsung also made an offer to HiSilicon, which designs the Kirin processors found in Huawei and Honor smartphones.

Currently, Huawei’s semiconductor subsidiary, HiSilicon, is one of the largest customers of the TSMC smelter. However, just as it has already done with Qualcomm and Apple, Samsung has reportedly offered it a competitive offer to burn its processors in 14 nanometers through the FinFET production process. A finer engraving that allows you to gain power but also in autonomy.
Currently, Samsung offers a 14 nanometer and TSMC engraving in 16 nanometers, as we have noticed about the Apple A9 processor case of the iPhone 6S. In addition, the Exynos 7420 remains one of the best processers on the market. Processor that can only be found on some Korean mobiles as well as on the recently official Meizu Pro 5.
But Samsung is not only a chip designer but also a melter. So there is nothing staking about the fact that it is looking to win new markets, especially Huawei which remains the third largest manufacturerin the world. When asked about the matter by Digitimes, TSMC declined to comment, saying only that it would not comment on this speculation of customers and orders. In addition, there is no suggestion that HiSilicon will accept Samsung’s proposal.
