The Snapdragon 820 50% more powerful than Samsung’s Exynos 7420

Announced at the 2015 MWC and expected on smartphones in 2016, the Snapdragon 820 processor is already emerging as the revival of Qualcomm and the high-end Android. In recent months, official statements and unofficial leaks have been scrambling to reveal more and more details about the company’s next Soc and now his technical sheet has just appeared on the social network Weibo.

Qualcomm Snapdragon.

Apart from the stated specifications, the most striking fact to remember is that the Snapdragon 820 is supposed to offer 50% more power than the Samsung Exynos 7420. In any case, this is what analyst Pan Jiutang says, which is precisely the cause of this new leak. And on the other hand, so much the better because it is not with him that he will compete but with his successor, the Exynos 8890. Note that a recent benchmark Geekbench had already placed the Snapdragon 820 ahead of the Exynos 7420 and even ahead of the Apple A9.

Pan Jiutang also talks about a considerable update compared to the Snapdragon 810 whose overheating problems have caused bad publicity to Qualcomm and, more generally, to the various mobiles equipped with the Soc. The new processor will have four cores and will arrive with an Adreno 530 GPU that would be the most advanced Qualcomm ever used. The sources also speak of unprecedented graphic performance.

Developed in close collaboration with Samsung, which is expected to integrate it with the Chinese and American models of its Galaxy S7, the Snapdragon 820 will be engraved in 14 nanometers but through an even more advanced version of the FinFET production processor used with the Exynos 7420, as stated recently by another leaker named IceCube. It will also support the LPDDR4 RAM to 1866MHz memory already found in some smartphones of 2015 and will integrate a category 4G modem 10.
